Assumptions

This blog was going to be about love and life but I noticed something about myself last night that I didn't know before. I assume things about people by the way they present themselves to the world. How they dress, their actions, what they say. Sometimes these assumptions can be correct, but many times they are colored by how you see the world. I am quite embarrassed by this revelation, always thought I was quite the open minded person. Starting today I vow to myself not to assume things and to mind my own business. Here's a little side story that illustrates this...My husband used to sell cars at a dealership in Helena. One day an older man came on the lot. He was filthy, wearing torn and tattered clothes. None of the other salesmen wanted to waste their time with him. Gerry went out to talk. This fellow had been up in the hills for a long time prospecting for gold and found a lot of it. He had jars in his pockets filled to the top with gold. He bought a very expensive car and my husband got a nice commission. I heard once "never assume anything, it makes an ass out of u and me".
